'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the thrilling closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear amid the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from distance, and Cameron Burgess quickly hammered in the deflection before sprinting toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with the crowd mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result completed an extraordinary turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a spectator shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory secured a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's first-time shot from about way out going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for having a go from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right wing-back after the team changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who praised the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they always find their target and they know how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea were keen on Galbraith in January and beat off competition to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has quickly replicated that in Wales. At Orient he linked up again with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a spell at lower division Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that growth for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who are fighting to qualify for the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including two matches games against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was sealed owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was cold out there," he says, grinning. "The week before, myself and quite a few of the young lads practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I realized I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
